Cornerstone Church is a United Methodist church located in Liberty Township, OH right outside of metro Cincinnati. Cornerstone is led by Lead Pastor Aaron Brown, who just recently came on staff. The church currently has two services offered at 9:15A, and 10:40A. The two services are identical that offer contemporary worship. Attendance currently runs around 300 each Sunday for their main worship services. 

 

The church is seeking the right candidate to take over as the new Worship Director to oversee their worship ministry. The right candidate will have a deep personal life in Christ and the character and capacity that align with the church’s overall mission and vision. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Demonstrable, continued growth in personal relationship with Jesus.
  • Work with the Lead Pastor and Worship Design Team to develop powerful, transformative and creative worship experiences.
  • Identify, train, and support media volunteer teams: sound, lights, video, ProPresenter, stage design, etc.
  • Grow, develop and support all of the worship volunteer teams through recruiting and training both inside and outside the church, including student worship leaders.
  • Be the spiritual leader of the Worship Team by making sure every interaction is an opportunity for discipleship.
  • Provide oversight and accountability to the worship budget.
  • Oversee the worship presence on the website via a web team – video editing and posting, social media, etc.
  • Work with the Lead Pastor and church staff to develop special worship experiences and use of the Worship Center space and equipment outside of the regular Sunday experiences.

We are a friendly, unified, and biblically oriented congregation.

 

This is a part-time position that works in conjunction with the Pastor to lead, grow, and challenge people. Compensation will begin at $10,400/yr., with the incentive for more as growth occurs. In the past our youth have met on a bi-weekly basis with adult volunteers. There will be flexibility with this position for vision and building.

  • Must be a follower of Jesus who has an evident personal relationship with Jesus.
  • Must be flexible and willing to be involved in church life and recruit youth workers.
  • Must be willing to get involved in the life of teens and cultivate meaningful relationships with them and their families.

Required education

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equal. Degree in Bible, youth ministry, or related field is preferred but not required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work under the direction of the Elders in the employ of the church to advance the goals and growth of the church. Unity being a prime factor in the spiritual health of the church, the youth minister must, along with the pulpit minister and any other ministers, consistently promote and preserve the unity of the body at County Line Christian Church.
  • Plan engaging, constructive, and fun activities for the teens – using teen input as well. (for example – service projects, Christian Youth Functions, Bible Camp, Spiritual Growth Workshop, devotionals, mission trips, etc.)
  • Actively participate in the planning and implementation of Vacation Bible School with the Children’s Director.
  • Chair a committee, made up of parents, teens, and other volunteers that will plan, organize, and publish a schedule for the year’s events. Committee is to meet a minimum of four times each year.
  • Preach when needed such as Youth Sunday or other days as requested by the elders.
  • Encourage and organize youth group mission trips/work.
  • Prioritize youth security and safety.
  • Plan and manage all aspects of youth trips including room assignments and chaperone assignments. Effectively and diplomatically manage parent and youth push-back to carry out the plan.
  • Prepare well-thought-out Bible lessons and devotionals and effectively communicate them in an energetic and organized way that relates to the teens.
  • Developing strategic plan for youth group
  • Manage and maintain social media and electronic communication outlets

 Preferences

Preferred that minister is married; however, this is not a requirement or screening criterion.

Job Description:

Title:  Senior Pastor

Position Status:  Full Time

 

Purpose:

The role of the Senior Pastor is to assist the Elders in overseeing the life and direction of First Christian Church.  The Pastor will have a firm grasp on the purpose, values, and strategy of the church and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission.  The pastor will offer pastoral leadership to the congregation alongside staff and lay ministers.  The Pastor will ensure that the systems, practices, and policies of the church responsibly and effectively support its ministry activities.

 

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

1.            Preaching and Teaching:   The Senior Pastor will be the primary preacher for all worship services.  He will provide leadership in planning and executing the adult education programs and all other programs in discipleship and ministry training in coordination with other staff and lay leaders.

2.            Strategic leadership and planning:  The Senior Pastor is responsible for strategic planning and staff coordination in the execution of the church’s purpose.  He will define strategic goals and vision as a key leader among staff and Elders and implement the plan by:

a.            Coordinating/leading weekly staff meetings and other activities to clarify and execute goals and objectives.

b.            Monitoring the spiritual pulse of the congregation through review and accountability.

c.             Ensuring staffing, facilities and programs are aligned to meet strategic goals.

 

3.            Staff supervision and development:  The Senior Pastor serves as director to staff and lay volunteers, and leads, evaluates, and mentors existing staff in their respective areas of ministry by:

a.            Overseeing staff training and development.

b.            Hiring and dismissing staff and prioritizing staff additions after consultation and guidance from the Elders.

c.             Providing leadership to the pastoral staff in the design and implementation of all church ministries.

d.            Working with the Elders to implement salary reviews and recommendations.

e.            Maintaining efficient and effective lines of communication between the staff and Elders.

f.             Serving as HR Manager – Oversee conduct, performance evaluations and providing ongoing performance feedback to all staff employees.

 

4.            Administration:  The Senior Pastor oversees and executes the administration of the church through appropriate staff and leadership teams, and ensures the completion of ministry, facility, and logistical support functions through staff and lay volunteers.  He will:

a)            Oversee the pastoral care needs of the congregation and, as necessary, share with staff and Elders hospital visits, home visits, counseling, marriages, and funerals.

b)            Supervise and provide direction, as needed, for the effective functioning of the office support functions.

c)            Oversee development of and adherence to church policies as established by the leadership team.

 

5.            Evaluation and compensation:  The Senior Pastor will provide monthly reports to the Elders on ministry accomplishments and activities.  The Elders will conduct an annual performance evaluation and review the compensation package.

We are located just three miles from the “Wright Memorial Bridge” in the Currituck county, North Carolina.

Our average attendance is 90 on Sunday mornings. 

We have a “Blended” style worship service and offer a children’s program called “Kid-Town”.

We are currently looking for a Christ-filled passionate young man who has a desire to teach and be an example to our children. At this time we average 10 students (K-5) who are actively involved in our “Kid-Town” program, with at least that many who have attended within the past year but are not currently active. There is tremendous potential for growth.

Kid-Town is currently run by a group of excellent volunteers who are more than willing to continue helping in the future.

Position Summary:

  • Assist teachers of adult classes with their needs (curriculum, classroom space, etc.)
  • Encourage and develop current teachers
  • Recruit and develop new teachers

 

5.  Miscellaneous

  • Preach and teach as needed
  • Pastoral visits as needed
  • Other miscellaneous things that arise will be distributed among the staff as appropriate

 

Essential characteristics include:

  • Godly character, self-discipline, and spiritual maturity
  • Strong knowledge of Scripture and doctrine
  • Effective communicator
  • Strong work ethic, team player, and a passion for ministry
