The Troy Christian Church in Troy, Ohio is seeking a new worship minister to join our staff and help us work towards our vision of Connecting People to Jesus. 
Candidates should have a faith background based in the Restoration Movement (i.e. Christian Churches/Churches of Christ), as well as a giftedness and passion for leading in worship. 
Successful candidates should also have some training in another area of ministry (e.g. youth, small groups, discipleship, etc.) as over time additional responsibilities will be added in order to leverage the strengths and passions of all members of our staff.

Worship Minister

Job Title:                             Worship Minister                                                                           

Accountable To:               Senior Minister

               

Purpose:                             

The Music/Worship Minister will lead all worship services, direct musical volunteers and assist the Senior Minister in various aspects of the ministry. The Music/Worship Minister must be passionate about worshipping God and have the instrumental and vocal talent to lead others in worship.

 

Regular Duties

  • Plan and lead all weekly worship services to grow the member’s relationship with the Lord through worship
  • Lead Praise Team rehearsals
  • Be a role model for congregation, leading a life consistent with that of a disciple of Christ; your doctrine must align with the principles of the Restoration Movement
  • Recruit new members for the music ministry and coordinate all special music
  • Exercise creativity to expand on the ways and means of leading people to God
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for worship services, working with the Senior Minister to plan the music to go along with the sermon
  • Catalog and keep inventory of all music in library
  • Develop stage sets, backdrops, graphics, videos, etc. that will serve to enhance the worship service
  • Work with Senior Minister to shepherd the many people who volunteer their time to service in the church
  • Oversee all areas of production (audio, video, and lighting)
  • Show a knowledge of modern worship music, traditional hymns, and secular songs appropriate for a worship setting; we currently have two worship services – one with more traditional music and one contemporary
  • Be able to relate to and lead a multi-generational congregation in worship
  • Be able to maintain confidences, effectively listen and communicate, and have the ability to resolve conflicts in a productive and God-honoring manner
  • Oversee existing and future music programs, such as adult choir, bell choir, children’s chime choir

 

Occasional Duties

  • Plan special music programs in conjunction with Senior Minister
    • Holiday cantatas
    • Revivals and Homecoming Services
    • Organize music for Vacation Bible School program
  • Attend workshops and/or leadership conferences for spiritual growth opportunities

 

Job Skills and Knowledge

Detailed knowledge of vocal and instrumental music

Proficiency on guitar and/or piano is preferred

Ability to work with people at all musical skill levels

Desire to see music as a stepping stone to lead others to Christ, allowing music to set the mood of worship and reach the individual heart

Moderate to advanced knowledge with computers, sound boards, mixing music

 

 

 

Salary

  • Negotiable, based on education and experience

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music preferred, but not required

Part Time Worship Leader Job Description

 

 

Position Summary

This is a part time position that will seek to develop our worship ministries to further accomplish our mission of cultivating passionate disciples who love God and love others through organizing and growing our congregational worship experience. Particularly, this position will focus on leading worship in Morning and Evening worship service and inspiring all generations towards a growing love for Christ.

 

Qualifications

  1. A heart of worship and service to God that manifests itself in a dynamic prayer life, a whole life surrendered to Christ, and a vibrant walk with Him and a life that is above reproach.
  2. A biblical worldview that is committed to the authority of the Bible as God's uniquely inspired Word and a capacity to demonstrate how a biblical worldview affects worship ministry.
  3. A demonstrated musical skill in a variety of genres that speaks to multiple generations.
  4. A humble heart of servant leadership that seeks to develop a team to assist in ministry tasks. This person will serve as both leader and ministry coach and would welcome working with others to plan, implement, and evaluate programs and goals.

 

General Considerations

Sunday morning worship services at Geneva Park are “blended” in style and seek to incorporate both hymns and contemporary Christian music.  The Worship Leader will help us extend our contemporary music repertoire as we seek to reach a new generation for Christ.  He/she will help broaden the musical experience of worship in our body.

 

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the Senior Minister, choose music, practice with Praise Team, and minister through music during Sunday morning.
  • Serve as primary worship leader during Worship service.
  • Develop a team of musicians and train new leaders to assist in leading worship services.
  • Develop Power Point presentations and submit them to the Senior Minister by no later than Wednesday evening.
  • Conduct Praise Team practice on Sunday Morning at 08:00 a.m.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Accountability and Scope of Oversight

This individual is accountable to the Senior Minister for the accomplishment of job duties. In addition, he/she will have the oversight of the worship ministry team.

 

Hours and Compensation

Hours are flexible due to the varied nature of this work. In the typical week, one would invest 5 hours, though actual amounts from week to week may vary.  The Worship Leader will track hours worked and submit them to the Senior Minister every Sunday. Compensation will be $50 per week – paid bi-weekly.
